Guidance for Parents
Parents play a crucial role in reading success. I offer coaching and support to help families understand their child’s reading needs and provide practical strategies for practice at home. Together, we build confidence and clarity for both student and parent.
Who I Am
Hello, I’m Flora Passey. I have over 20 years of experience supporting children with learning differences and disabilities, including ADHD, autism, and dyslexia. I hold an elementary K–8 teaching degree and am passionate about research-based reading instruction.
I have experience in dyslexia-informed instruction and multiple Orton-Gillingham methods. I am pursuing Orton-Gillingham certifications to provide the most effective support for every learner.
My passion for reading instruction began as a child watching my brother and sister struggle with dyslexia. I struggled with spelling until I learned real phonics as I taught my children to read. But my passion was solidified when my son was diagnosed with “severe profound dyslexia” at the age of 10. I went to work to find the instruction he needed to finally unlock the world of reading.
